On the Run

I’ve been making a slow and cautious return to running since April, after a stubborn hamstring injury had me sidelined for almost a full year. Six months into it and I feel like I’ve finally got my running mojo back.

It was a rough road back, starting from what felt like scratch after so much time off. An unusually hot summer tested my grit but I ran early and slow, and got through it. Now the cooler fall temperatures are making for a smoother and faster ride.

The next test is winter, which can be brutal in Michigan, and I expect January and February will require restraint as many days won’t be doable for running. But there will be plenty of doable days and I will do them, as I find those cold weather runs so rewarding.

When I’m running, I’m happy. It’s that simple. And I’m so happy to be on the run again.
